Here is a list I put together of our federal regulations or F-tags.  There are a couple of nice lists online already, but they haven’t been recently updated. These are current as of January 15, 2010.

I am new to LTC and in the middle of my first survey. I was looking online for something like this..thanks! Also, I’m going to talk to my boss about the “watermelon book”.

Good for you Suzi! If you run into anything odd during the survey – there’s always something unexpected – I’ll be happy to answer any questions or assist any way I can. Watch out for insulin issues as well as Coumadin. Being an RN, you’ll also deal with F-309 quite a bit in long term care. F-309 is “quality of care” and encompasses just about anything. Good luck with your survey!

Hello. I am wondering the best place for me to find and print the F-tags. Looking for F-506 and few others. I printed out your nice list of F-tags, now I need the actual regulation/full description of the F-tag. Can you give me a few ideas? Is there a website or where do I go?

Your help would be very much appreciated!

    thanks, Darcie

  4. Hi, Darcie. The watermelon book is your best bet – it’s well-organized and easy to navigate. Of course, you have to purchase it. Until then, you can always download the State Operations Manual, Appendix PP. That has all the information you’re looking for.
