About

Hi!  Thanks for dropping in!

This website is made just for you.  It’s designed with the needs of Nursing Home Administrators and Long Term Care Professionals in mind.

I’m Mark, a Nursing Home Administrator.  I’m licensed in several states and have had the opportunity to run, troubleshoot, or otherwise work with dozens of facilities across the Southeast.

Before becoming a nursing home administrator, I worked in various nursing home departments at different times, holding the positions of Food Service Supervisor, Dietary Manager, Maintenance Director, Housekeeping & Laundry Supervisor, and Central Supply Director.  I also have directed the other departments in the absence of key personnel.  I have extensive survey experience (trial by fire) as well as a pretty good track record with census development and financial turnaround situations.  I’ve picked up all kinds of great ideas along the way from mentors, great people I’ve woked with, and just situations in general and put them all in my toolbox to pull out if needed down the road at other facilities.

However, I noticed that resources were very limited for individuals in our field.  There’s not really anywhere to turn for answers to the various issues that arise in the day-to-day operations of a nursing home.  That’s one of the reasons I wanted to create this blog – to provide tips, tools, advice, and resources for Nursing Home Administrators and other Long Term Care Professionals.

I’ll share lessons learned from situations I’ve been in and had to develop a game plan for on the spot.   I’ll show you the shortcuts that I’ve developed so you don’t waste your time.  I’ll share tools with you to help yourself and your staff become more efficient and effective. I’ll also at times have friends and associates in the industry guest post on this blog to give you even more views on the subjects that are facing our industry today.

Whether you’re a Nursing Home Administrator, Director of Nursing, Social Services Director, RN, LPN, CNA, Regional Director, Consultant, Marketing Director, or hold any other role in the Nursing Home industry, you’ll find something with take-home value here.

Don’t forget to comment and share your experiences as we can learn from each other.  If you like what you’ve seen so far, please subscribe to stay updated.
